At Vintage Silk not only do we have stunning silk flowers but we also do styling. This week I styled a photo workshop at the fantastic Redwell Brewery just outside Norwich in Trowse. Situated under the railway arches it’s a fantastic quirky building with interesting inside and outside spaces. Redwell not only brew great beer but it sells it in their tap room at the weekends. Redwell also hire out the space for parties and wedding receptions for something a little bit different to the norm.
For this shoot I wanted to do something a little bit different from the white or ivory wedding dress, and opted for a 1950’s style polka dot dress with red accents from Lindy Bop who specialise in vintage style clothing and also have a range of wedding dresses.
From very early on I knew I wanted red to be the colour theme and followed that through in the flowers and other details like a red petticoat, belt and hairband.
For the bouquet I wanted a striking alternative to the traditional bouquet, so decided to go for a presentation or arm spray display. To give a nice length I used pampus grasses and other dried grasses mixed with artificial eucalyptus, and a neat cluster of red roses mixed with shorter stem grasses towards the bottom.
We were also really honoured to have Bertie Valentine London make us a bespoke hand painted leather jacket with red roses and ‘forever’ printed on the back which really complimented the whole style of the shoot (keep your eyes peeled for a blog on them in the future).
Not much interior styling was really required on this shoot as I wanted to use Redwells large equipment as the main back drop for the bride.
We simply shone coloured lights on the brewing equipment which reflected beautifully on the steel and on the large American airsteam outside of the brewery.
